How PowerShift works

We don't sell products or services. We organise demand and put suppliers in a competitive process to win it. You stay protected by the same retail and industry rules as any other customer.

  1. 1

    Join the waitlist

Tell us your postcode, current providers, and whether you own or rent. Free. Two minutes.

  2. 2

We group you by zone (for energy tenders)

Demand is pooled by distribution zone — not just by state. We pool members in each zone until we hit a credible bargaining mass.

  3. 3

    We run a sealed-bid tender

Suppliers receive an anonymised demand profile and submit their best offer to serve it.

  4. 4

    Best offer wins

The winning bid is the offer that delivers the lowest all-in rate to members for the term. (For energy tenders: the winning retailer delivers the lowest c/kWh or c/MJ rate.)

  5. 5

    One-tap approval

We notify you of the winning offer with the saving, the term, and the fine print. You approve in one tap or pass.

  6. 6

Seamless transition (10-day switch for energy)

Your new supplier takes over within 10 business days (for energy). No interruption. No callouts. No trades.

  7. 7

Lower bills — and we re-tender at renewal

Your saving is locked in for the term. Before renewal, we run the tender again so suppliers stay honest.

How PowerShift gets paid

We never charge members. Suppliers pay a Platform Delivery Fee — and it's materially less than what they would otherwise spend acquiring you through ads, comparison sites, and door-knockers.

Today

Customer acquisition cost

typically $400–$600 per customer

Industry estimate for electricity and gas retailers — door-knocking, call centres, and advertising. This cost is built into the rate you pay.

With PowerShift

Published per tender. The supplier wins a verified, low-churn cohort. Members keep the difference.

What data we collect — and why

For our first tenders — covering electricity and gas — suppliers can only price accurately if they understand the cohort. Plain English on each input:

Electricity tenders

NMI (your meter ID)
Confirms you exist on the network and which distribution zone you're in.
Annual usage (kWh)
How much electricity you actually consume. Drives the tender's all-in rate.
Your current electricity rate
So we can prove the saving in dollars, not percentages.
Tariff type
Single rate, time-of-use, or controlled load — each priced differently.

Gas tenders

MIRN (your gas meter ID)
The gas equivalent of a NMI. Confirms your gas connection and distribution zone.
Annual usage (MJ)
How much gas you actually consume. Drives the tender's all-in gas rate.
Your current gas rate
So we can prove the saving in dollars.
Gas tariff type
Block rate or flat rate — each priced differently.

We never sell member data. Tender packs are anonymised at the cohort level. Your details only attach to a contract if you personally approve a winning offer.

PowerShift is not a licensed energy retailer. The winning retailer in any tender is your retailer of record under the National Energy Customer Framework. You keep every protection you have today.
